Competitions

The Youth Instrumental Music Competition has been held annually since 1983. The competition is open to area students from Lancaster County and surrounding areas. There is one competition for students in grades 9 through 12 (ages 14 through 18). In addition to cash prizes for the first three placements, the winner of the Senior Competition is awarded a $5000 scholarship to the college of their choice. The winning students are most excited about being invited to play with our premier local orchestras such as Lancaster Symphony and Allegro Orchestra Lancaster.

2024’s competition was held on March 9th at First United Methodist Church. Violin, Piano, Cello, Oboe, and Flute were among the instruments that the participating students demonstrated their talents.
